Genesis

Then God said: “Let us make humans in Our image, according to Our likeness. They will be able to care for all life upon the earth and in the skies and in the seas.”

So God made humans just like their Maker. God made humans just like God. In all genders did She make them.

And God blessed them and told them, “Multiply and fill the earth and take good care of it. You are responsible for the fish and birds and all the animals. And look! I have given you the seed-bearing plants throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. And I’ve given all the grass and plants to the animals and birds for their food.”

Then God looked over all that She had made, and She found that it was excellent in every way.

(Genesis 1:26-31)

YHWH said to Cain: “Where is Abel, your brother?”

And he replied: “I don’t know; am I my brother’s guardian?”

She said: “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying out to me from the ground! Now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood at your hands. When you farm the ground it will no longer yield its strength to you. You will be a fugitive, wandering the earth.”

Cain said to YHWH: “My punishment is greater than I can bear. You are banning me today from the land and from your presence. I will be a fugitive wandering the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”

YHWH answered him: “Therefore, whoever kills Cain will receive vengeance sevenfold.” And YHWH put a sign on Cain, so that no one who found him would kill him.

(Genesis 4:9-15)

And the seven years of famine began to come, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in every country, but throughout the land of Egypt there was bread. When all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread. Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, “Go to Joseph; what he says to you, do.” And since the famine had spread over all the land, Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe in the land of Egypt. Moreover, all the world came to Joseph in Egypt to buy grain, because the famine became severe throughout the world.

(Genesis 41:54-57)

Hurry and go up to my father and say to him: “Thus says your son Joseph: God has made me in charge of all Egypt. Come down to me, do not delay. You shall settle in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near me, you and your children and your children’s children, as well as your flocks, your herds, and all that you have. I will provide for you there—since there are five more years of famine to come—so that you and your household, and all that you have, will not come to poverty.”

(Genesis 45:9-11)
